The Therapeutic Eating Gateway

A book about returning to your body, your truth, and the nourishment you’ve always needed.

A Book for the Woman Who Is Ready to Come Back to Herself

The Therapeutic Eating Gateway is not a diet book.
It’s not a set of rules.
It’s not a meal plan or a quick fix.

It is an invitation.

An invitation to meet yourself in the place where your beliefs, your emotions, your history, and your hunger intersect.

This book explores the deeper layers of why we eat, what we carry, and how our relationship with food mirrors our relationship with ourselves.

It is for the woman who is ready to stop striving, stop performing, stop pretending — and start returning.

What This Book Is About

The Therapeutic Eating Gateway guides you into:

  • Understanding the emotional meaning behind your food patterns

  • Reconnecting to your body as a source of wisdom, not criticism

  • Untangling beliefs about worth, shame, perfection, and nourishment

  • Learning how your story has shaped your relationship with food

  • Approaching eating with honesty, compassion, and intuition

  • Seeing food not as the problem, but as the pathway

  • Reclaiming your self-trust, your desires, and your inner authority

This book is a portal — a gateway — into deeper awareness and embodied living.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your habits, disconnected from yourself, or exhausted by “fixing,” this book offers another way.

Why I Wrote This Book

I wrote this book because Therapeutic Eating is not simply a method — it is a way of living.

After years of working with women, couples, and individuals, I saw the same patterns emerge:

We use food to cope.
We use it to numb.
We use it to anchor ourselves when we feel lost.
We use it to express needs we’ve never spoken out loud.

Food is never just food.

This book was written to help you understand yourself in a new way — with compassion, clarity, honesty, and reverence for your own story.

Author Bio

Katie Zarko is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, spiritual mentor, and guide whose work lives at the intersection of therapeutic psychology, nervous-system intelligence, and embodied nourishment. For more than two decades, she has supported women in breaking free from fixation, rebuilding trust with their bodies, and returning to a grounded, self-led relationship with food and with themselves.

Her own story began with early struggles around eating and identity. Diagnosed with anorexia at nine years old and later navigating years of hyperfixation on “clean eating,” Katie learned firsthand that healing is not linear — and that privilege does not shield us from emotional pain or the complexity of being human. Her journey into recovery, spirituality, and embodiment became the soil from which her life’s work grew.

Today, Katie weaves her training as an LMFT with spiritual psychology, nervous-system science, and lived experience to offer a deeply integrative approach she calls The Therapeutic Gateway. Her work invites women to develop discernment — the spiritual muscle of pausing, choosing, and leading themselves with clarity and compassion.

Katie’s writing, like her therapeutic work, is grounded, honest, loving, and deeply human.
Her mission is to help women return to themselves —
to remember their power,
to live without obsession,
and to inhabit a body and life that feel like home.

Her upcoming book, The Therapeutic Eating Gateway, is an extension of this mission — a heartfelt invitation into the deeper layers of healing, nourishment, and self-leadership.
